Best At Home Workouts For Moms

Let’s be real, friend, finding time to work out as a mom can be very challenging. Between school drop-offs, meal prep, work deadlines, and the never-ending laundry pile, the idea of getting to a gym seems like a distant fantasy. But here’s the thing: you don’t need a gym membership or hours of free time to feel strong and energized. You just need the right approach when it comes to the best at home workouts for yourself.

Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Lindsey Bomgren from Nourish Move Love on my podcast. (which you can also catch HERE on YouTube!). If you’re not familiar with Lindsey, she’s a certified personal trainer, pre/postnatal fitness specialist, and a mom herself who has built an incredible resource for women looking to stay active at home.

Why At-Home Workouts Are Perfect for Moms

Before I dive into what I learned from Lindsey, let me tell you why at-home workouts have become my go-to recommendation for busy moms.

First, there’s the time factor. No commute to the gym means you can squeeze in a workout during nap time, before the kids wake up, or even while they’re watching their favorite show (no judgment here). Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, at-home workouts can be just as effective as gym sessions when done right. This is why I love Nourish Move Love’s workouts and TRUST them!

What I Learned from Lindsey Bomgren

My conversation with Lindsey was eye-opening and humbling. She truly understands the unique challenges moms face when it comes to fitness because she has walked that road.

Lindsey openly shares in my interview with her that she filmed so many workouts (pregnancy and postpartum, for example) while she was actually walking through those seasons herself. She doesn’t fake it in workouts. She shows up, day after day, and has built her business through consistency and passion.

One thing that was extremely profound was when Lindsey said, “Fitness is a keystone habit that raises the tide in all areas of your life.”

The Best At-Home Workout Approaches for Moms

Based on my conversation with Lindsey and exploring the resources on Nourish Move Love, here are some workout styles that work incredibly well for busy moms:

1. Strength Training with Minimal Equipment

You don’t need a fancy home gym. A set of dumbbells (or even household items) can give you an amazing full-body workout. Lindsey’s programs on Nourish Move Love focus heavily on functional strength training that helps you feel strong for everyday mom tasks – like carrying groceries, picking up toddlers, and all the bending and lifting motherhood requires.

2. Short, Efficient Workouts

During our interview, we talked about the wide variety of workout programs that is offered. The beauty of programs like those on Nourish Move Love is that many workouts are 20-30 minutes. You can get an effective session done without sacrificing your entire morning or evening.

3. Workouts That Fit Your Season of Life

Whether you’re newly postpartum, dealing with diastasis recti, managing pelvic floor issues, or just returning to fitness after a break, Lindsey emphasizes meeting yourself where you are. There is so much grace for the season you’re in, friend. Do what you can do! And as Lindsey says all the time, 10 minutes is better than 0 minutes.

4. No-Equipment Options

Sometimes you don’t even have access to dumbbells, and that’s okay. Bodyweight exercises can be incredibly effective. Squats, lunges, push-ups, planks, and glute bridges can all be done in your living room while your baby plays on a mat nearby.

Making At Home Workouts Sustainable

One of my favorite parts of our conversation was when Lindsey talked about how 10-15 minutes is better than zero minutes. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, friends. Exercising is a lifeline for us not just physically but moreso, mentally and emotionally. It’s worth our time and putting it at the top of our priority list.

This really resonated with me because I think so many moms feel like they have to go all-in or not at all. But the truth is, showing up for 20 minutes three times a week is infinitely better than an ambitious plan you never actually start.
